First real post!
I am actually very excited about this. Behind these posts I have to thank my Life Group (small group ministry) from Harvest Mission Community Church. I really appreciate this new "movement" to start blogging about not only ourselves but also why we do what we do the way (how) we do it.
What I do: live my life in the way my God has determined for me. (Psalm 29:2)
Why I do it: I believe I was rescued by a God who loved me before I was even born. How I was rescued will be explained soon. He wants me to continue his ministry, but the greatest part having the freedom to live my life myself. I don't see religion as a constraint/restriction to my actions, but rather, it gives a new perspective, a foundation, and I utilize it however I want to.
How I do it: If I could count the ways...but seriously it all starts with finding myself with God and building a relationship from there that is strengthened by relationships with others.
What's next? As prompted, I do have things in need of prayer. This semester as a sophomore here at UMich as been quite a struggle. People say sophomore year of college is a lot of fun, but I have faced discrepancies with that thought. Grades have slipped, opportunities missed, and I keep putting the blame on myself, which has made it difficult to count on God. My QT communication has faltered, and I want to reestablish my fervor for Christ. What's the point of praying if your heart is not into it? I want that heart of David, earnestly seeking after Christ. That will hopefully serve as a catalyst to my grades, my mood, and my doubts about my future goals after college.
Ephesians 1:3-6 talks about how we are "chosen in him (God)" before we were even born. That word chosen reminds of chosen for a job, a college, or even picked on a team to play kickball during gym class! I really feel that sense of belonging, as sometimes I do the lonely feeling, especially walking home alone from class. Community, sonship, holy, blameless: these identities chosen for me, chosen for everyone, really puts things in perspective on how I should shape my life.
I hate to cut this thought here, but these verses, prayer requests, this blog, is really helping me pour out my thoughts in way I can both reflect on and learn from. I'm excited for what's to come, and hopefully you are too!
